OOTD | New Reflections

Gold crocheted top - thrifted / Acid wash denim jacket - thrifted / Black High-waisted jeans - Arlene by Dr Denim / Jodhpur boots - Greg Grant Saddlery / The Burbank Sunglasses in Mirror Blue - Miss KL

This outfit is full of new things that I've picked up recently. I finally took the dive and bought myself new high-waisted black skinny jeans. I tried many different styles on in General Pants a month or two ago and decided that Arlene by Dr Denim was definitely the pair for me. I got these in a 28 which is quite snug around the waist but the room in the legs makes me sure that they will stretch. I wore them for the first time today and could not be more impressed. They were comfortably all day and are yet to make my hands or legs black... even with prior warning that they could. If you're in the market for some new high-waisted jeans and don't mind the $130 price tag, totally do it. I'll keep you updated on their fading/stretching process.

OOTD | Pastel Bells and Cockle Shells

Pastel Shift Dress - Box Vintage / Cream Over-shirt - thrifted / Black Riding Boots - Greg Grant Saddlery

Another quick outfit post from me today, lovelies. I've really been working my way through my retro summer dresses recently. This is another oldie but a goodie and I thought it was about time it featured on the blog. As one of the first dresses I purchased from Box Vintage this definitely saw the beginning and blossoming of my love affair with vintage clothing.

If you look back to the last outfit I posted my obsession with miniature floral patterns will be blindingly evident. I love how petals work to fit in with each other and the complimentary colour selection in the fabric. I am also fairly partial to the cute button details on the shoulders.

The cream over-shirt is a staple also yet to feature on the blog. We know I love over-shirts and this was about $1 from a thrift-shop; paying more for some simple and easy to find basics is something I have trouble justifying.

Thats all for today, hope you're all having a good week!

OOTD | Floral Specks

Polkadot Skater Skirt - River Island via ASOS / Floral Kimono - unknown boutique / Black Singlet - Target / White Socks - Target

Kimonos; you either love them or you hate them. I am definitely a lover of them and this is the first one I ever purchased. Just like over-shirts they are the perfect way to keep pale skin covered during the warmer months but don't cause you to overheat.

OOTD | Alluded To

Tie Dye Smock Dress - ASOS / Black Cropped Tee - Chic-a-Booti / Sunglasses - Sportsgirl / Crochet Flower Headband - Something Pretty by Tara / Black Riding Boots - Greg Grant Saddelry / White Socks - Target

I've been trying to get this dress into an outfit for quite a while and am so glad to, once again, express my love for tie-dye on this blog. This style of dress is so comfortable and great for summer. I have quite a large list of them saved on ASOS and generally try to pick one or two up when they have a good deal on. When I'm at work I wear an apron but I always try to protect nice tops so I popped this cheap black cropped tee over the top.

OOTD | Riverside Frenchie

Frenchie Dress - Dissh / Chambray Shirt - thrifted / Black Riding Boots - Greg Grant Saddelry

The lack of excitement in the appearance of today's fairly nautical outfit is made up for in excitement for the comfort it offers. Feeling overly repetitive wearing only skirts and t-shirts to work everyday, I have been searching for a dress in this style for the last few months. Something made from lightweight fabric in a flattering cut but also long enough to be acceptable to wear to work. I've stumbled across this and another in recent weeks and am eagerly awaiting others to appear on my shopping horizon. This one also comes in opposite colored stripes and I am so tempted to snap it up as well.

A staple all throughout the year, my favourite chambray shirt helped me out on a few colder than expected days this week. I couldn't recommend having anything in your wardrobe as much as I do one of these; simple, casual, perfect.

I've had a pretty big obsession with braiding my hair lately. Mainly because of the crimp aftermath that I am enamoured with. Expect a lot more braids because this obsession shan't be ending soon.

Hope everyone's weeks are going well and that no one has too terrible a case of Wednesday-itis. Keep me posted if you find any dresses like this that I may like.

OOTD | Spotted in the Courtyard

Black and White Raglan Top - PulpKitchen via Dangerfield / Spotted Skirt - Sophia via Little JC / Green Jacket - Vintage via Endeavour Foundation / Black Riding Boots - Greg Grant / Red Tartan Ribbon from my Christmas Tree

It's been a while since I did an outfit for you guys so I thought I'd pop one up today. This is one of my favourites from the last few months. It is probably the cutest I've felt in a work appropriate outfit and was so simple and easy to put together. I think I may have caught Jess' monochrome bug because I couldn't stay away from pairing these two. But obviously I couldn't keep it entirely black and white because that just wouldn't be me now would it?

I picked up this beautiful green jacket a few years ago in an effort to recreate a Daria (1990s MTV cartoon hit) costume and have been wearing it avidly ever since. I love the fabric its made from and the simple, perfectly placed and well sized pockets that it features. Probably one of my most worn and well loved vintage pieces (which is really saying something).

The skirt was found in a small boutique near my old work. I think it was ashamedly the result of a lunch break shopping trip fuelled by a bit of anger and frustration. I loved the skirt and picked it up in a size that is probably a bit smaller than I would like it but it still fits pretty well. Be warned, shopping angry can result in a lack of attention to detail with sizing. For a while I had difficulty pairing the skirt because I was so bogged down in how off-white the spots were but have since decided to stop caring and wear it however I like.

Again, you've seen many reincarnations of this raglan shirt. Jess and I found them during winter sales and I have been wearing three of them ever since. Thank you Dangerfield for these magnificently comfy finds. These boots you've seen before and will definitely see again. Perfect for a job that requires you to be on your feet all day.

You will probably start learning now that I adore ribbons and have a pretty massive collection. I think they add a very easy bit of quirk to an otherwise understated outfit; everyone needs a bit of quirk don't they.

And thats my outfit of the day. It is fairly simple but its a great example of what I get around in day-to-day while I am at work.; waisted skirts, comfy tops and riding boots.

Hope you're all enjoying your week. If truths must be told, I'm hanging out for the weekend pretty bad.

OOTD | Down the Rabbit Hole

Follow The White Rabbit Leggings - The Orphan's Arms via ASOS / Oversized knit top - Thrifted / Potter's Field Check Shirt - Mink Pink / Multicoloured knitted cardigan - handmade by my Granny / Black Leather Riding Boots - Greg Grant Saddlery / Galaxy Apocalips - Rimmel via ASOS

Something you'll notice in my outfit posts in the coming weeks (maybe months) is that I have an ever growing collection of eccentric knitwear. My parents have just returned the majority of my collection to me and I cannot get enough of it. When I see a crazy knit in an op shop or vintage store, or even my mother's wardrobe, I grab them as fast as I can and hold on for dear life before someone reminds me that Brisbane is too warm to wear them for most of the year. But that aside, welcome to my crazy world of knits.
