OOTD | Pottering

Potter's Field Check Shirt by Mink Pink - from Dissh / High Neck Burgandy Shift by Faithfull - from Dissh / Sunglasses - Sportsgirl / 8-Eye Boots - Dr. Martens

I have recently splurged quite a bit on clothes not found in op shops. Gasp! Shock! Horror! I found this super adorable daisy print flannel by Mink Pink and couldn't get it out of my mind. I scored it for super cheap as well when Dissh were having a 30% off all Mink Pink for a few days a while back. I paid $48 for this in a medium it so if you find it elsewhere for a higher price (like I've seen since purchasing it) don't pay and find a good price - it is only a flannel shirt after all.

Friendly Fashion Features - Found: Simplicity in Grunge and Shoe Addictions with Jess

Cold Shoulder Button Up by UNIF - from Karmaloop

Vintage Denim Jacket by Levi - eBay

What would a series of Friendly Fashion Features be without my wonderfully fashionable friend, and co-blogger (the Rose of A Rose and a Peony), Jess? If you're a regular reader of these pages then you'll probably know a fair bit about this gorgeous flower but this post is coming from me, Erin.

OOTD - Double UNIF

OOTD 02 OOTD 02

Headband - eBay, Shirt - Asos, Shorts - UNIF Axl Shorts, Cuff - Asos, Shoes - UNIF Grim Creepers and Jeffrey Campbell Lita Cap

Hi. My name is Jess and I am a UNIF addict. Of all the things I could have picked to be addicted to, besides Mr Campbell and his shoes, I think I could have done a lot worse. I wore this outfit out last Thursday night and snapped a few pics to share with you today.

The shirt is an Asos basic, the boyfriend tee. Every girl needs a few big t-shirts, they go with anything and everything. I picked this up in a 10 if anyone needs a size reference and when it isn't knotted like in the photos above it hits around the tops of my thighs.

Onto the star of the show. The Axl Shorts. These were in the NastyGal sale and the massively reduced price tag was irresistible. I will say though that these shorts are sized very inconsistently in different materials. These velvet shorts are in a 27 and are a perfect fit, whilst the 27 I bought in the black leather version wouldn't even do up. UNIF get your act together.

I have blogged about the UNIF Grim Creepers here and the Lita Caps here so I won't blather on too much about either. I think black shoes tie in really nicely with the outfit and really let the colour of the shorts pop. And of course no outfit would be complete without a matching lip.

I like that this outfit can easily be switched up for night time. Come winter I am sure to be wearing this with an oversized jacket and some docs. Bliss

With all that said I am off to peruse the UNIF Spring Collection ...oh dear.

OOTD Look at me I'm Sandra Dee

Shirt - The Hives, Bandeau - Paper Scissors, Pants - Disco Pants American Apparel, Watch - Seiko, Bracelet - Topshop, Lipstick - Mac 'So Chaud', Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell Lita Spike.

This is an outfit I wore last Thursday when I went out with friends. My disco pants have been affectionately dubbed my 'Sandy pants' by them and I love wearing them clubbing. I think they make the perfect outfit when you want to dress up but you don't want to be flashing a whole load of skin.

The shirt I bought when I saw The Hives at the beginning of January at The Tivoli. This was the second time I've seen them and they are fantastic live. So high energy and interactive with the crowd, one of the best concerts I've been to in a while.

The Litas are one of the first Jeffrey Campbells I ever bought and for me they were a no-brainer. Black leather, sky-high platform and spikes? Perfection. As mentioned in my Lita Grad unboxing (link here) I prefer my JCs in a 7.5. These are in a 7 but I feel they fit bigger than my other Litas. Looking at the reviews on Solestruck it would seem that most other people feel the same. Obviously these are heavier than an average Lita, but I find them just as comfortable to wear. And, touch wood, I haven't lost any of the spikes yet.

That's it from me for today. What are your favourite items for a night out?

Jeffrey Campbell Lita Grad Unboxing

JC Lita Grad 01

JC Lita Grad 02

As promised in my previous OOTD (click here) my next post would be an unboxing of the beautiful Lita Grad. When I first saw these on Solestruck my jaw may have dropped. Though I wasn't a fan of the other colours personally, the blue pair were something special.

They were however, like most newly released Jeffrey Campbells, very overpriced. A year of buying his shoes has taught me that you can almost always find them on sale. So I waited. I hoped they would pop up in a Black Friday sale, but no luck.

I had given up on owning this pair of Litas when low and behold I found them on Urban Outfitters for $99! A swift 10% coupon code later and they were mine for only $89.

I had thought that since these were a patent leather they would be less comfortable than my other Litas. However the lining on these is the same tan leather on my other pairs and they are just as comfy.

For reference I got these in a US 7.5. I wish more Jeffrey Campbells would come in half sizes as I feel that these fit me better than some of my other shoes in size 7s.

OOTD Summer in a Land Down Under

Hat - Asos, Lipstick - Revlon 'Wine Not', Necklace - Asos Shirt - thrifted, Skirt - Urban Outfitters, Obligatory arm candy - eBay and markets, Watch - Boy London, Shoes - JC Lita Grads via Urban Outfitters.

I have to say it is rather strange to be posting a summer outfit whilst all the northern hemisphere blogs are wrapped up snug in faux fur and leather. Nevertheless here is an outfit that I wore recently whilst pottering around town.

I realise that pottering and Litas are not synonymous, quite the opposite in fact. However, in the new year I have made a resolution to wear my JCs more and not just save them for nights out on the town. They're too pretty to be confined to that. There will be an upcoming unboxing post on the shoes so I shall save my thoughts on them until then.

The skirt is a recent buy from the Urban Outfitters' sale. I find that some of my jersey maxis get a bit hot during the Brisbane summer, but this one with its thin fabric and side splits is perfect. I feel that although it's a coloured piece, I will be able to wear it through winter with some tights and layers.

Photographing on your lonesome is a tad challenging please bear with me until I master the art or bribe a younger sibling into taking them. Let me know your thoughts or if I missed some vital outfit angle for next time.
