Playlist | Time Out

Hi lovelies! I've been flat out with assignments and uni in general at the moment. So I've really been relying on some chilled out music to get me to sleep at the end of a long day. This is just a combination of the artists I've been tuning in to recently.

The photo's from a more relaxing time too, last year at Woodford Folk Fest, can't wait to head back there soon.

Happy weekend!

Playlist | Remember the Good

This is a mix of new tunes I've been listening to lately that all put me in a really indie-pop kind of vibe. You'll hear shortly that I've been all over Sia's new release 1000 Forms of Fear which is sensational. I'll probably be including some of the other artists featured in this compilation in a current music picks post in the next few weeks. I can't wait to get my hands on Kimbra's The Golden Echo and have a more in-depth listen.

Hope you've all had a wonderful week, I know I have. Enjoy the tunes!

Playlist | If You Keep Losing Sleep

If You Keep Losing Sleep... from aroseandapeony on 8tracks Radio.

Hi lovelies! Unfortunately I have always been a person who struggles to switch off at the end of the day. Over the years drifting off to music had become a habit of mine and I thought I would share some of my favourite sleep inducing songs.

Playlist | Collision of Atoms

Just a quick playlist from me today. These are the some of the beats I've been listening to lately. I came to the Spotify party pretty darn late which is a shame because it is truly amazing. After working out that I was a bit obsessed with Lorde, this brilliant program has been suggesting some of these tunes and expanding my music tastes which were in a bit of Lorde shaped rut. My most favourite of these musicians is Noosa who we think sounds like a combination of Adele and Lana Del Rey with their sensual husky tones.

Feed Me Diamonds - MNDR
Bravado - Lorde (Hippie Sabotage Remix)
Fear of Love- Noosa
I am the Lion King - PAPA
I Go Away - MNDR
So Fast, So Maybe - K.Flay
You Are a Tourist (Hip Hop Remix) - Chance Waters x Death Cab for Cutie
Waves - Jhameel
Satellites - CATCALL
Walk on By - Noosa

As we approach summer and the holiday season I am getting more and more keen to make playlists. I think its because my brain can't stop thinking about all the fun times ahead and making soundtracks in anticipation.

Anyway, I hope you're having a fabulous weekend. Jess has been partying hard at the beach so we should be incredibly jealous of her, I know I am.

Playlist | Cures

Yes, I have jumped on the Lorde bandwagon and can't stop listening to Pure Heroin. Its been gracing my ears with beauty almost continuously since it was released. I restrained myself from putting more of it in this playlist but be sure I will probably put one of her songs in every playlist I make for the rest of forever. I was also recently introduced to The Kite String Tangle; a great guy from Brisbane making some very catchy chilled out beats.

This playlist's main purpose (aside from being a collection of great tunes) was to aid my recovery from Saturday night shenanigans.

Lorde - Still Sane
Portishead - Sour times
The Kite String Tangle (covering Lorde) - Tennis Courts
Bat For Lashes - Laura
Lana Del Rey - Young and Beautiful
Regina Spektor - Hotel Song
Bat For Lashes - Daniel (Mt. Eden Remix)
Chet Faker - I'm Into You
Active Child - Playing House
The Kite String Tangle - Given The Chance

So if you're in need of some soothing tunes to get you through a hangover perhaps this will do the trick.

Happy Sunday lovers,
Erin xx

Playlist | Summer Sounds

Hi lovelies! Whenever the weather changes I always find putting a playlist really gets in the mood for the coming seasons. Here's some tracks I've been loving lately and wanted to share with all of you.

Aluna George, I have developed a recent obsession with this London-based duo. Their entire album is very cruisey and easy to listen to. I think pretty much everyone I know is obsessed with Disclosure's album 'Settle'. I'm seeing both bands at Listen Out festival in a few weeks and I have very high hopes.

Playlist | Get Up!

It's been a while but I have a new playlist for you today. Recently, (since Jess thankfully forced the music upon me) I have been getting into The Great Gatsby soundtrack and Daft Punk's new album Random Access Memories. This playlist includes a selection of my favourites from those two albums intertwined with some other songs that I love to listen to when getting ready for a night out or even in the morning before work to pump me up for the day.

They range in genre a little and may seem like a strange collection. I think a common theme that runs through the lot of them is that I can sing along. I find that to be a very important component in music for a night out (or pre-drinking). I love to sing so anything that makes me feel good about myself and my voice will get me feeling happy and in the mood for socialising. Click 'read more' to get the track listing...

Under Pressure...

Erin is lucky enough to have completed her university education and I am the lucky duck who gets to tough it out for another four-ish years. Needless to say after two years I am well accustomed to the stress of mid-semester assignments.

I have been a very busy bee of late and my head is swimming with legal mumbo-jumbo and  various musical terms ...the perils of a double degree. It's my turn to post today, but I felt it might be a bit much to post an outfit of the day in my pyjamas. I couldn't even muster the energy to create an outfit (read couldn't be bothered with washing my hair)

So I have made a short playlist to take a study break with. I haven't talked much on here about my love of music. It is a huge part of my life and what I listen to is largely dictated by my moods. This mix is designed to block out the stress and let my mind be still for a minute or two. It's a bit of a mish mash when it comes to genres, but give them all a shot you may be pleasantly surprised.

Tripping into a Sunset

I've been doing a lot (a lot) of driving around the Victorian country side in the last month or so. It had been a while since I'd driven (around six or seven months) before I came down south to spend some time with my parents and I've really been enjoying it for this brief period. My parents are planning on moving out of the city in the near future and so we have been scouting out locations for them to move to - hence all the driving.

Whilst on these drives, I seem to dictate the music choices and I realised I have never really put together a good driving mix. I have albums I love to drive to but no compilation of different artists. Obviously, it was time to fix this.

This is a compilation of songs I love spanning across decades, genres and places of origin. Some come from soundtracks of my favourite movies including: The Perks of Being A Wallflower, Django Unchained, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Wayne's World. I loved some of them before seeing those movies but the good memories (created by the films) altered the way I enjoyed them (mainly Bowie's Heroes and Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody).

There's a good handful of Australian artists in here too like Silver Chair, Kate Miller-Heidke, Boy and Bear and The Grates. I don't expect everyone to be a fan of all these songs (I'd love it if you were) but the aesthetic created by the combination of these together is something I'm definitely looking forward to enjoying on the road.

Do you have any 'on the road' must have songs up your sleeves? I'd love to add more to this mix.

Erin xx

PS. As always, you don't need an 8tracks account to stream this music but if you do, follow us because we'd love to hear what you put together.
