The Wish List | For The Face

If you haven't noticed that I am an adorer and hoarder make-up products both high and low end you will soon (that is if you continue to read this post). During the month of October, also known as Buy Nothing New Month, I have discovered many products, new and old, that I want to purchase. Not being able to purchase them has really enabled me to be more pragmatic about the products I will splurge on come November and which items will forever remain on the wish list. Below you will see two lists; things I will hopefully soon purchase and things I will purchase only in my imagination.

Products to Purchase:

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow

Gimme Brow indeed. I am a self-confessed brow product addict and I can vouch for Jess and say that she is too. When we saw these new 'wonder' products being released and knew we couldn't touch them for a whole month a little bit of us broke inside. I'm always hunting for something that is more perfect than the last with a balanced combination of accurate colouring and waxiness. After seeing reviews of this product I am hoping that this gets me that little bit closer to brow-fection.

Travel | Make Up

Hi lovelies! Just a quick one from me today. I am off to Melbourne this morning a weekend escape. I thought I'd give you all a nosey into my travel makeup bag.

I recently bought this bag in the David Jones sale for a bargainous price. I love the travel print around the bag and the fact that it's water resistant. My last makeup bag was a very battered Clinique freebie which definitely had been worn out.

Sick of rummaging through a bag for that one pesky product I chose a bag with separate compartments to keep everything organised. I will say thought that this is also the bag's detriment as larger containers are a bit of a hassle to pack. If you're a girl who can't survive without her whole vanity then this is not the bag for you.

I only have a few bits and bobs to take with me, including some bronzer and blush, an pair of eyeshadows and some mascara. And yes there are four lipsticks ...for three days ...I have a problem. Most of it is stuff you'll have seen on the blog before, apart from the new Hourglass concealer I am testing out.

My favourite part about this bag is that is has a section for brushes. No longer will they get bent out of shape. I'm taking my usual bronzer and blush brushes as well as this super handy EcoTools travel set, which has everything I could ever need for my eyes.

My tip for packing makeup, always try and do your makeup before you leave with what you've packed, that way you'll know if you've forgotten something. I very nearly forgot my eyebrow pencil. Whoops!

About Face #4

Hi guys! I had hoped to post a haul up today, however my parcel has not arrived so that plan was quickly dashed. Instead here is my latest makeup obsession - plum eyeliner. I have been wearing it non-stop this week. I think it's an attempt to bring on the cooler weather with wintery hues. This particular eyeliner is 'Dark Diversion' by MAC. Unfortunately this is a limited-edition shade, but it is repromoted frequently during the autumn/winter time. There is also a fairly similar shade in the permanent line, but the name of it escapes me.

About Face #3

Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer in 'Light Medium' / Bobbi Brown Corrector in 'Light Peach' / Smashbox Bronze Lights in 'Medium/Dark' / Origins Stay Tuned Foundation in 'Linen'
Mac Eyeshadows in 'Jest' 'Satin Taupe' and 'Shadowy Lady' / Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara / Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner
Rimmel Lipliner in 'Indian Pink' / Revlon JBKBT in 'Smitten'

Hi everyone! I haven't done one of these posts in a very long time. In truth my makeup does tend to be very similar a lot of the time. There's nothing wrong with knowing what works for you. Sometimes when you have ten minutes to slap on a face and dash out the door it pays to have products that you know will always look good.

About Face #2

Hello all. I haven't done one of these posts in a while now. To be honest my makeup is very similar on a day to day basis and repeat posts of winged eyeliner and bright lips could prove a little repetitive.

Recently though I have been opting for a something a little different. No eyeliner. Shock horror! I love a deep red lip I think it's a shade that everyone can wear. Throughout summer I have found myself gravitating towards more traditionally summery options, until recently.

For eyes I just buffed a matte eyeshadow a few tones darker than my skin across the lid to add a bit of shape, smudged some brown shadow into the lashes and applied a shedload of mascara. Eyes done. Simples. I feel like with the soft eye the red lip looks fresher and less stark, particularly during the day. The rest of your face should be kept soft as well with dewy skin and a bit of bronzer for shape.

Now onto the star products. I layered two colours to get this look: Revlon's Just Bitten Lip Stain and Balm in Midnight and Mac's Russian Red. Important to note the Revlon product is the felt-tip-marker-like product and not their most recent release. This product stays on the lips for forever and a day and I love using it as a base for other lipsticks. It gives Russian Red (my favourite red) a deeper, richer tone.

That's all folks. A simple eye and a red lip. Nothing ground breaking, but it'll tide me over until winter and means my darker lipsticks can feel loved year round.

About Face #1

I thought I would try my hand at a beauty-themed post today. I'm off to work today so I needed to be somewhat presentable and I'm meeting friends for Friday drinks later. So I needed my look to last well and transform from day to night.

I started by buffing my Origins Stay Tuned Balancing Face Makeup into my skin, followed by a healthy dose of the Bobbi Brown Corrector and Clinique Airbrush concealer. I am fortunate enough to have pretty good skin so I find this combination is my fail safe and I don't tend to experiment with it anymore.

For eyes I went for my staple Mac Woodwinked eyeshadow. This is my favourite eyeshadow of all time and also the only eyeshadow I've ever finished. I layered this over Painterly Paint Pot to ensure it stayed on and then blended a bit of Mac's Embark into the lash line. After a good few coats of Georgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara that was the eyes done.

The cheeks I kept simple with a quick splash of bronzer and blush from the Sleek Face Form Kit in Light.

I chucked Mac So Chaud Lipstick in my bag to throw on after work and ran out the door. I like my makeup to be easy to maintain and simple especially at work so a lipstick is the perfect thing to brighten up the end of a long day.

Wishing everyone an early Australia Day. Have a good long weekend lovelies

Jess xx
