Recipe | Machi Kabi or Indian Fish Curry

Growing up, my mum introduced spice and curries into our diet gradually. She would make mild curries and increase the heat every now and then. My brother was (and still is) a huge lover of hot curries whereas I took a little longer to warm to extreme warmth. This is a dish that started our love of curries and is still a family favourite. Fairly mild to begin with this dish can be made as hot or mild as you like. I love the freshness of this dish and will be cooking it for many years to come. 

Serves 4
Ingredients

500g firm white fish fillets

2 tbsp rice bran oil or ghee

1 onion, finely diced

2 garlic cloves, crushed

1/2 tsp chilli powder

2 tbsp curry powder

3 large tomatoes, diced

2 tbsp coriander or mint

juice of one large lemon

1 tsp salt

chopped chilli to garnish (optional)

In a large fry pan heat oil or ghee. Place garlic and onion is pan and cooking for two minutes or until fragrant. Add chilli powder and curry powder and cook for another minute. Add mint, tomato and fish and cook for another five minutes before adding the lemon juice and salt. 

Bring to the boil and let simmer for fifteen minutes.

Serve with rice, chipati or papadams. Garnish with chilli and any left over herbs. Can also be served with a yoghurt raita. 

I hope you enjoy this classic fish family favourite. It has been a staple curry in my family for as long as I can remember. This is quite a mild dish but feel free to increase the heat as you see fit.

Hi lovelies! How many red lip products can I buy before it's classed as an addiction? Or am I well and truly past that point now? The Lime Crime Velvetines are the latest addition to my collection and it's love. 

They meet all the criteria that I want in a lipstick: matte finish, long lasting and bold colour. Now I'm new to Lime Crime as a brand. After all the scandals revolving around the company I was a tad wary. However temptation outweighed the potential negatives and I am so glad it did. I've never tried any of their more "traditional" lipsticks so I can't comment on those, but the Velvetines are fantastic quality.

 I am in love. And not with a boy, but with a lipstick. My life is not at all sad... This is a purchase I have been contemplating for a long, long time, ever since I saw these lipsticks released overseas. 

Finally they've made their way to our stores and I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. If you've been reading the blog for a while then you'll know I'm no stranger to a red lip. However I have several requirements that any red must meet before being allowed into my ever-growing collection. It must be matte.  It must be pigmented. It must be long-wearing. This new formula from Hourglass passes with an A+ in every category. 

Nailing It

Hi lovelies! Let me preface this post by saying I am not much of a nails girl. Whilst I love a coat of colour I was (and still am if I'm being honest) a nail biter. Gasp! My secret's out. Recently though I have been good and have been trying to show my nails the TLC they need to get back into shape. 

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day

Perhaps today's post may not be on the most exciting of topics, but since I have been wearing it everyday I thought it warranted a mention. I have been eyeing up the Casio watches on ASOS for ages now, but this style was always out of stock. Eventually I tracked it down on Urban Outfitters and we have been a perfect match ever since.

Somehow I always manage to forget how much I enjoy wearing a watch. Even though my phone is all too happy to tell me the time, there's something satisfying about looking down at your wrist and just knowing. Plus it means I don't have to go delving in my bag, desperately seeking my phone. 

Possibly this watch's greatest feature is the fact that you can adjust it to the exact size you need. Finally I no longer have to face the problem of having my watch one link too big or too small. And if you, like me, were skeptical over the quality of a $30 watch rest assured this baby is well made and ready to stand the test of time. 

Apologies for the slightly boring topic today I did have some outfit photos, but I wasn't super happy with how they turned out. I may require some practice on that front.

Anyways Merry Christmas to everyone I am off to work on my oh-so-sexy watch tan.
