Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven

 I am in love. And not with a boy, but with a lipstick. My life is not at all sad... This is a purchase I have been contemplating for a long, long time, ever since I saw these lipsticks released overseas. 

Finally they've made their way to our stores and I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. If you've been reading the blog for a while then you'll know I'm no stranger to a red lip. However I have several requirements that any red must meet before being allowed into my ever-growing collection. It must be matte.  It must be pigmented. It must be long-wearing. This new formula from Hourglass passes with an A+ in every category. 


This is my first product from the brand and I am very impressed. I have tried various brands' liquid lipsticks in the past, but have always been disappointed. They were uncomfortable to wear and make your lips resemble dried prunes. Also they tend to flake off leaving you with a slightly diseased looking mouth by the end of the day. 

This lipstick is a very different creature. It isn't moisturising on the lips, but it's so comfortable to wear that half of the time you'll forget you have anything on at all. It also wears like iron. I have to use eye makeup remover to get it off at the end of the day.

These lipsticks don't run cheap, but if my raving has convinced you then you can buy one for $42 from Mecca Cosmetica. I know it's a lot of money for one lipstick, but I invested in a staple colour and it's been on my lips since I bought it. 

My advice if you're balking at the cost - don't buy one unless you want to buy them all. I am now planning my next colour purchase. This could prove a very expensive addiction.
