Review | Revlon Colour Burst Matte Balms

From left to right: Revlon Colour Burst Matte Balms in Standout, Shameless and Complex

Hi lovelies! I have been waiting very impatiently for Revlon to bring these lip products over to Australian shores. As a lover of matte lipsticks I couldn't wait to get my hands on this formula that everyone was loving. My lipstick drawers somehow managed to make room for these three shades.

Review | NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder

Hi lovelies! I apologise for showing you such a well loved product but I completely forgot to take photos of this one before getting stuck into using. I discovered filling in my brows relatively late in the game. Looking back on photos of myself pre-brow now causes me to cringe slightly.

Like lipsticks I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to brow products, I tend to switch up what I use based on how much time I have and how much other makeup I am wearing. I always fill in my brows even if I am wearing no other makeup. However with the NYX eyebrow cake I tend to prefer wearing it when I have other makeup on my face. My preferred look recently has been a simple matte eyeshadow, strong brows and a strong lip.

I originally bought this product on a whim, I was sceptical when it arrived that, although labelled as blonde, the colours would be a much too much. I was pleasantly surprised though. First I run the clear wax over my brows with the angled brush included. This has been great during the humid summer in Brisbane as it provides a base for the powder to stick to. It also keeps my unruly brows in place.

I then run a mix of the two colours, although I tend to favour the upper colour through my brows with my own angled brush. After a quick brush through with a spoolie I am all done. I find the colour lasts until I am ready to take it off at the end of a long day.

If you enjoy a well defined brow I would highly recommend this little kit, it makes travelling so simple as well. It is available from selected Target stores in Australia or online here for only $9.95.

What are your favourite brow products?

Life | Local Farmers Markets

In step with one of Jess' recent posts, and life choices, I too have been lugging my camera around with me more often in hope of capturing more interesting parts of my life. One of my favourite ways to buy my fruit and vegetables is to head off early in the morning on a Sunday and pick up fresh bargains at my local farmers markets.

My local markets are held at The Mount Gravatt Show Grounds and are super close but always really fruitful; pun definitely intended. These particular markets are half fresh food and half flea markets.

I really enjoy shopping from local markets because the quality of the food is great but also a lot cheaper. I am also a big believer in shopping from the source and try to avoid buying from big grocery suppliers as much as possible. The more money we can keep in small businesses, like those as farmers markets, the better.

Obviously, as a keen thrifter I am also shamefully pulled in by the flea markets where you can find a plethora of random goodness as well.

If you're anywhere on the south-east side of Brisbane I would recommend heading down one Sunday morning. They aren't the biggest markets but they definitely have everything you need to avoid the hustle and bustle of the commercial supermarkets. And if you're elsewhere, check out your local markets - I can guarantee you won't regret it.

OOTD | Check Mate

Dress Thrifted / Socks Thrifted / Shoes UNIF 'Lost Sole' Boots

Hi lovelies! It's funny the things you find in thrift stores. Back at the start of summer I was set on finding a checked button up maxi dress. I even spent over $100 on one from UNIF but the fit wasn't quite right so I returned it.

Review | Australis Velour Lips

From L to R: Australis Velour Lips in 'MA-LI-BOO' and 'TO-KI-O'

Hi lovelies! It's barely a week into November and what was the first beauty product I bought? Lipsticks! Two in fact. Despite the ludicrous number of lipsticks I own there was definitely room for these two.

They are the latest release from Australis called Velour Lips. Claiming to be a long-wearing, highly pigmented, matte lip colour of course I was interested. I managed to track down these two colours and after some testing here are my thoughts.

Review | Bourjois Volume Glamour MAX Mascara

Unfortunately this is going to be the first negative review on the blog. I recently received this mascara as part of a gift with purchase from Priceline. I have tried several Bourjois mascaras in the past and loved them, particularly their Volumiser and Volume Glamour Ultra Curl Mascaras, unfortunately the same cannot be said for this one.

It is not the formula that's the problem here, that's quite nice and once you get in on the eyes it's stays well all day. The brush is another story though. It's HUGE. It can be hard to accurately convey size over a computer screen so I photographed the wand next to the average sized Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara.

How-To | Temporary Hair Chalk

Unless you've been living under a rock recently, you'll have noticed that temporary hair colour has been a big trend recently. Many a hair care company have been releasing coloured chalk promising vibrant, temporary colour. However, these retail upwards of $10 for one colour. Having a strict uniform code I didn't want to sink a lot of money into something I could only use infrequently. Thankfully eBay came to my rescue where you can pick up a pack starting from $2.99

I couldn't find the exact pack I used, but they all work in much the same way. Find out how they work best after the jump.

Review | Models Prefer Moisture Lust Glossy Lip Tint

Models Prefer Moisture Lust Glossy Lip Tint in Marshmallow
First of all, what is it with these type of lip products and ridiculously long names? I have too many makeup related things to remember without adding names like this to the list. Second of all, I am ready to forgive the makers of this product for the name because it's so darn good.
