OOTD | Sayonara To The Weekend

Kimono - gift / black slip dress - Target / Dr Martens - vintage/retro via Paddington Antique Centre / backpack - Pineland Leather via gift / sunglasses - Sportsgirl

Apart from with second-hand clothes my favourite way to dress is simply. I recently purchased this slip to go underneath a garment I found whilst thrifting and I think I have grown to like this than the dress itself. This black slip, that I picked up pretty cheaply at Target, is so ridiculously comfortable that its hard to want to put anything on top. I'm thinking this, and potentially similar items, are going to become staples for me this summer.

Shoes | Dr Martens Mary Jane

Happy Wednesday shoe lovers! I've recently taken the plunge and purchased some Dr Martens that I've been ogling over for several months now. I made a spontaneous purchase on a rainy day a few weeks ago with a very encouraging Jess.

OOTD | Daisy Chain

Blazer Thrifted / Jumper MINKPINK via NastyGal / Skirt Neon Blonde via Urban Outfitters / Shoes Dr Marten 1460s

Hi lovelies! In the recent batch of cold weather I have been adapting the philosophy that if my top half is warm, then my legs will survive. Although I was wearing stockings here I must admit.

OOTD | Checking Out

Dress Primark / Coat Monki / Choker eBay / Shoes Dr Martens 1461 Classics

Hi lovelies! Less than a week to go before I am free of exam revision. If I'm honest I really having been up to a whole lot lately. I've become a bit of a study hermit. The furthest I've ventured has been to the uni computer labs. Exciting. This dress has been perfect for long study sessions and lazy days.

OOTD | Late To The Disco

Disco Pants in Forest Green - American Apparel / Grey V-Neck - Bonds / Fish Bowl Print Over-Shirt - thanks to Mum's great taste / Dr. Martens - Thrifted / Nails - Blueberry by Barry M

After many months of agonising over whether or not to make the investment I finally took the plunge and purchased a pair of American Apparel's infamous Disco Pants. Always apprehensive about buying expensive items online I tried these on in their Melbourne store, to find out what size to buy, first. I ended up being content with an M as they run ever-so-slightly large. You've probably read/heard it all before but these pants are unbelievably comfortable and hold you in better than any legging you'll ever own. I'm also almost convinced I'm going to invest in a pair of AA's Riding Pants as their matte finish looks more wearable but equally as comfortable.

The rest of my outfit was trying to tone the shiny pants down for the working day. My grey Bonds v-neck is a staple in my wardrobe. If I could afford to fork out $40 for a v-neck all the time I definitely would. The fish-bowl-covered beauty you see covering the outfit is a gem from my mother's past. In love with the concept of fish on a shirt as a small child I managed to snag this from her wardrobe two or three years ago and I think she is happy with its new life (she had little choice anyway).

Thats all for today lovelies. Just a quick outfit post this Friday so I can get out and enjoy the night. Hope you've all had a spiffing week and an ever better weekend!

Shoes | Dr. Martens 1461 Classic

Dr Marten 1461 Classic Oxford in Black

Hi lovelies! So it's been a while since I have welcomed a new pair of shoes into my wardrobe. I'm not quite sure what brought on this restraint, but I have to admit I have been more than content with my current collection.

OOTD | Fade to Black

Shirt Evil Twin via DollsKill / Riding Pants American Apparel / Holographic Backpack UNIF via DollsKill / Watch Seiko / Shoes Dr Martens 1461

Hi lovelies! I feel like I have had a big shop in ages, but as it happens all the items I'm wearing above are fairly new. The Riding Pants were a bit of an investment from American Apparel, but I'm pleased to say they were worth the money. Super high waisted and surprisingly exceptionally comfortable. I find the finish of the pants makes them a lot easier to style than the Disco Pants. My only gripe is the lack of pockets, although I don't know where they would have fit them.

OOTD | Gingham Style

Blue Gingham Nighty - Thrifted / Cream Button-up - Thrifted / 'Cherry Red' Dr. Martens - via Gumtree / Lips - Galaxy Apocalips by Rimmel London

On a list of fabrics perfect for days full of sun, high temperatures and humidity, seersucker ranks pretty high. This nighty, found thrifting, is one of the dresses I want to wear everywhere throughout the summer months. It might be made for sleeping in but it works as a super cute summer dress as well. However, because of my super pale skin and the lack of shoulder coverage this dress provides, I like to wear it with an over-shirt when outdoors.

OOTD | Dalmatian Designs

Dalmatian Shirt - The Mountain via ASOS / Multi-coloured cardigan - Handmade / Knee-high black socks - Voodoo / Black 8-eye Dr. Martens - Thrifted / Sunglasses - Sportsgirl / Apocolips Lip Laquer in Galaxy - Rimmel

I recently made the mistake of vastly overestimating the sizing in an online purchase. I bough this dalmatian t-shirt by The Mountain with the intentions of it being slightly oversized. As you can see it is much more of a dress than a t-shirt on me and I'm internally torn between wearing it everyday around the house (because it is extremely comfy) or being brave enough to wear it out with a pair of bike shorts underneath.

OOTD | A Comfortable Tale

Black Velvet Leggings - Mika and Gala / Navy Floral Shift - Vintage sourced via Ra Ra Superstar / Grey Hoodie - Table8 Activewear / Denim Chambray Shirt - Thrifted / Black 8-eye Dr. Martens - Thrifted / Lips - 'Over' by Illamasqua

This weeks OOTD is another that practically represents everything I look for in an outfit to wear to work; comfortable but suitably reflecting my retro/vintage style. Before we start getting all technical about my jacket combination, I do not own a denim jacket and until recently have  not seen a huge reason to own one. Living in Brisbane it is not always denim jacket weather and so any denim over-clothing craving I've ever had has been pacified by this amazingly practical chambray shirt. However, after wearing this combination day-in-day-out I am desperately seeking out the perfectly oversized denim jacket (with Jess' snazzy eBay skills).

The navy floral shift you see is one of my favourite vintage purchases with some wonderful memories attached to it. During the Summer after my last year at school I attended Woodford Folk Festival (for the first of many times) and after restraining from spending my hard earned pennies all week long, I splashed out on the last day on this beauty. It is so super practical to wear with leggings or stockings and bike short-shorts.

Up until Winter last year I was an avid activist against leggings. I hated people wearing them and I loathed wearing them myself. This was until I realised that we have moved forward to a time where not all leggings are low-rise. Enter the perfectly priced pair of decent quality velvet leggings. I'm still yet to invest in another pair but I do love these dearly. They work perfectly with my Dr. Martens or Jeffery Campbell Litas.

And thats my outfit for this week. You may have noticed in the last few posts that I have started adding brows to the morning makeup ritual. It isn't very complicated but if you'd like to see what products I use and how I do it, let me know in the comments.

Toodles,
Erin xx
